We have created this page and guide below to help you get started because we know sometimes the hardest part is the planning. Make sure to note the Checklists available to make this step just a little easier. The Itineraries we’ve curated may just be the Easy Button you’re looking for!Â
As a family, you may choose to hike, bike, horseback ride, paddle – any number of fun recreational activities! Check out the Activity pages of this website for specifics on these activities, as well as local provides of gear, classes, and guided tours.
As a reminder, please do not feed or interact with wildlife. Give them their space, take your photo from a safe distance, and teach your kids to do the same. Keep dogs on leashes so they they don’t disturb wildlife, as well.

Our Region
Our region boasts so many wonderful opportunities to explore and ways to experience nature that we couldn’t possibly contain it all here. So we have curated some of our favorites and also some lesser known gems in our area that are family-friendly and sure to please!Â
To help the kids feel connected and excited about exploring the outdoors, we have also created a club just for them: the Pikes Peak Outdoors Adventure Club. Membership is free but the fun and rewards are a great way to motivate the kids to join in on the fun. There is a simple Application process, a Pledge, and fun ways to identify themselves as club members such as stickers, string bag, and buttons. Our mascot for the club is Tava the Pika. Keeping kids engaged – whether toddlers, tweens, or teens – is sometimes a challenge so we have created some fun Activities that educate while they entertain. Each activity is available as a PDF you can download or print for free. We’d love your feedback after participating in the activities – you can email info@ppora.org at any time.
So, what are you waiting for? Get the calendar out and start intentionally marking off some time to get the whole family outside and enjoying this amazing region!
