The Independence Center
The Independence Center is the local home of civil rights for people with disabilities. Working with individuals, their families, and the community, we create independence so that all may thrive. We are not an assisted living center; instead, our organization provides information, resources, and support to help people with disabilities live, learn, work, play, and participate in civic life as equals.
COOL C.A.T.S.
We are a community that encourages kids of ALL abilities to participate in activities, events, and the fun of staying ACTIVE! We are proud to be community partners with The Arc Pikes Peak Region. Our Special Olympics Teams are adaptive, and participants range in ages from five to 24, with varying abilities and modifications.
Colorado Springs Little League
Challenger Baseball's mission is to provide an opportunity for individuals with intellectual and physical challenges to enjoy the benefits of Little League participation in an environment structured to their abilities.
Trailability program
This program focuses on: accessibility features (ex: wider pathways), collaboration & partnerships, trail assessments & improvements, education & outreach. The Trailability program plays a vital role in promoting accessibility and inclusivity in outdoor recreation, ensuring that individuals of all abilities have the opportunity to experience the natural beauty and benefits of the region's trails
Trackchair program
This program, a part of the Therapeutic Recreation and Trails, Open Space and Parks (TOPS) programs, will remove barriers and allow visitors to explore designated trails not suitable for regular wheelchairs. The units feature rear stability wheels, a four-point harness, dual port USB and attendant control for volunteers or Park and Recreation staff to assist with maneuverability. PRCS is in the process of developing free programming for the Trackchairs, which will be available in the spring of 2024.
