It’s common for trash and debris to end up in waterways – clogging drainage systems, impacting wildlife, affecting water quality, and ruining the view of our natural landscapes.

Be part of the largest watershed-wide clean-up in the state of Colorado! Creek Week volunteers clean up litter along a creek, trail, park, or open space throughout the watershed. We’re inviting individuals and groups (families, clubs, schools, neighborhoods, etc.) to form a Creek Crew. Get outdoors, get active, and get busy creating positive change for your community and those living downstream.

Creek Week cleanups happen across the watershed—from Palmer Lake to Pueblo—over nine action-packed days of service and stewardship!

Register as a Crew Leader to organize a cleanup at your chosen site. We’ll provide guidance and can supply free cleanup gear if needed.

Register as a Crew Member to sign up for an existing cleanup—no planning required. Just show up, pitch in, and make a difference!

Bring Your Own Supplies if you can—gloves, trash bags, buckets, and grabbers are all helpful—but gear is also available at no cost through the Fountain Creek Watershed District.

Riders get early access to the Pikes Peak Highway from 7–9 am!

• Riders must go single file in the right lane.
• Wear reflective clothing.
• Fasten blinking lights to the front and back of their bike.

Food, beverages, and merchandise will be available at the Summit starting at 8:30 am, and restrooms will be available along the route.

We encourage you to carpool with fellow cyclists to the Pikes Peak Highway. In the event that the parking stalls near the gateway reach capacity, we have teamed up with the North Pole Santa's Workshop (located right before the Pikes Peak entrance) to provide overflow parking in their northwest lot. Parking attendants will be on site starting at 6:00 am.

Calling all witches and ghouls to Quail Lake for a FREE Halloween paddle. This event is a FREE community event, open to all paddlers: SUPs, kayaks, boats, etc. Registration is not required. Simply join us at the boat launch on Quail Lake.

This event is in the morning to avoid windy conditions. All that we ask is for all participants to have their USCG-approved, personal floatation device on their vessel and to wear your leash. Children under 14 are required by CO state law to wer their life vest, Water safety should always be the first priority!!

And, practice Leave-No-Trace. It's kind to the environment and the wildlife it supports. We/They really appreciate it.

Signed online waiver.

Hone your observational skills and learn more about the ecosystems on Pikes Peak!

Along with something to journal in and write with, don't forget to bring plenty of water, snacks/lunch, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat, pretty much anything you would want on a day hike. Sturdy shoes would be a plus, but not a requirement, as we will be doing a very short, easy walk on a dirt path.

There are restrooms and snacks/water for sale at the gift shop, but no potable water to fill your bottle.

The meadow nature walk is a relatively short guided nature walk through some of our park’s pristine natural environments. Learn about the ecology of meadows and open spaces with park naturalist Sam Owens. The walk takes place in Cheyenne Mountain State Park, starting at the Prairie Falcon Amphitheater parking at 10:00 am at select dates in July. Reservations are available on CPW connect, but walk-ins are allowed. No fee is needed for the walk, but the entry fee to the park is still required. Walk will commence rain or shine, so participants are advised to come prepared for weather and trail conditions. Appropriate footwear and clothing is needed, as the trail is not paved.

Audience: All are welcome, however, please keep in mind individual skill level and challenge of an hour long moderate hike.

Fee: Park entry fee required

Time duration: 1-2 hours maximum, although under an hour is possible based on walk dynamics.

Location: Prairie Falcon Amphitheater parking off the main road south of the campsites.

Get a special behind-the-scenes tour of the Pikes Peak Summit Visitor Center! Learn about the ways this building situated at the top of 14,115 mountain was built to last and be sustainable.

The event will be held at the Pikes Peak Summit Complex Visitor Center. Be sure to allow approximately 60 minutes to drive the 19 miles from the toll gate to the summit so that you arrive in time for the tour. Parking is available at the summit.

This 5K isn’t just a race—it’s a community celebration! Organized by Manitou Springs High School Cross Country team, it brings running to the community!

Creature features is a program aimed at teaching kids about Colorado’s wildlife. Each Creature Feature focuses on one Native Animal. Participants will have an opportunity to learn more about the biology, habitat and lifestyle of select animals. A craft will take place toward the end for everyone to take home.

Children ages 7-12 are encouraged to join us. Spots will be limited to 20,so registration online is required. The program should last approximately one hour. All participants must have a valid park pass.

Registration for the 2025 Cycling Santa Ride and the 2025 Chasing Santa Walk/Run is now open! Cycling Santa serves as a toy drive for Give It Forward, to spread Christmas cheer to kids across the Pikes Peak region.

There are three ride distances, to accommodate all levels of cyclist -- a 6mi, a 10mi, and a 21mi -- and toddlers under 4 are free! Every participant will receive a free Santa suit along with registration, even the kids. If participating, please bring new and unwrapped toys with you to to the start line!
