Clearing the Path: NEPA and Environmental Analysis for Ring the Peak
Portions of the existing Ring the Peak Trail on U.S. Forest Service land (more than 12 miles) require formal recognition as system trails. Additional segments need realignment or environmental review to protect water infrastructure, reduce erosion, and improve safety and experience. Expanded camping opportunities will also require surveys and analysis.
Peak Exceptionalism includes dedicated support for NEPA and related environmental tools, enabling land managers to move projects forward efficiently.
Q2 2026 Progress Our team has been equipped with the necessary tools and software. A 2000-era NEPA study has been identified that may reduce new requirements for the North Slope work.
This foundational capacity work accelerates multiple trail and camping components while ensuring compliance and long-term sustainability of the Ring the Peak system.
