Access to low-cost e-bikes for Colorado Springs residents

On November 3, 2023, Rocky Mountain PBS published an article regarding the collaboration of Pike Ride and the Colorado Energy Office.

Pike Ride is similar to many e-scooter companies, where users can unlock access to a bike via phone.  Colorado Energy Office is helping Colorado Springs residents have greater access to biking through a recent grant that supported Pike Ride’s purchase of 50 e-bikes, each for a resident in a designated low-income area. Those who received bikes lease the bike on a month-to-month basis for $25 each month.

Biking, and more recently e-biking, is becoming more and more accessible within the City, as Colorado Springs, “prioritized multimodal mobility in its Connect Colorado Springs plan, a master plan guiding transportation in the city. These plans include bike lanes, more robust public transit and better access to bike trails.”
