Mount Herman Trail
Near Monument | 3 Miles | Moderate | 7,005 Feet | Network
General Description
Mt.Herman (9063 ft / 2762 m) dominates the view over the town of Monument and is easily visible from I-25. It’s a short but fairly steep hike with impressive views at the top. Shortly after you start from the trailhead the trail (#716) starts climbing steeply. After about half a mile you reach a small meadow. Shortly afterwards the trail turns right and climbs sharply up to the top of the ridge. Once you reach the top turn left and continue north to the summit. Enjoy the views of Monument, Palmer Lake and Air Force Academy.
Biking Description
It is a great mt. there are several trails, though not very technical, there are some mean climbs and some great downhills. the trails are not named so you will just have to do some exploring! My fav. loop start just as you get to the top of the first hill on the road at the trail head, from the parking lot. Have Fun!!
