[more+]The Manitou Springs Heritage Museum proudly announces the opening of its new Winter exhibit, “Ski Areas of the Pikes Peak Region”. The exhibit is a collaboration with the Colorado Snowsports Museum in Vail, who provided some amazing historic photographs. Due to the efforts of the Pikes Peak Ski Club and Don Lawrie, the club’s first president, ski areas like the Pikes Peak Ski Area and Ski Broadmoor were successful for many years while other Ski Areas were planned, but never operational. This exhibit tells the stories of the early skiing pioneers who were dedicated to promoting the sport of skiing within the Pikes Peak Region.
